Practical pacing plan
Conserve early on the flat coast to preserve capacity for the approaching Joá/Niemeyer climbs. Check effort at Praia da Reserva. Hold effort rather than pace over both climbing groups; resume rhythm on descents without attacking them. Avoid interpreting the beach return as a completely flat run-in; maintain controlled effort through the short rises and tunnel approaches. Press gradually after the final small rise if effort and coastal conditions permit, retaining control through city turns. Push only while effort and form remain controlled. Use Aterro do Flamengo as the closing landmark. Adjust pace for wind, rain and temperature on race day; the monthly historical sample is not a race-morning forecast.
